Name:
Izaya Orihara (折原臨也)
Age:
23
DOB:
May 4th
Gender:
Male
Job/Occupation:
Information Broker
Personality:
Izaya is like no other human, he doesn't even classify himself as human. No, he believes he is greater then all humans that they are all owned by him. Though his playful smiles and gestures may mislead you, he can con you or betray you in the next minute. Life is a game to him, he has no goal in life except for loving all humans (Expecting them to love him back as well).
He's extremely intelligent, uses it, and is able to wriggle his way into any situation with his gained knowledge of people and the talent to read people just as well as he can see them. He is sly and slick, can mingle his way out of situations without a scratch as fast as wriggling his was into them.
One by one he'll let innocent people bite the dust and watch from his point of view. It's all for his amusement and mind after all. Can he be trusted? No...well possibly, but do not be surprised if he betrays you in the end of this.
Positive Characteristics:
- His knowledge and information on others come out to be of good use in certain situations. Especially when it comes to benefit his own use.
- Being able to read others easily and gain information. It becomes useful to his work and when events become serious.
Negative Characteristics:
- Being the main antagonist, he is the bad guy meaning most/all of his main characteristics are negative unless you look between the lines.
- How he uses others like some toy until he gets his way totally so he could hurt them in the end.
- His belief of owning all humanity and how he is convinced that loving humans is actually hurting them, manipulating them, and putting them into emotional situations to see how they react to it.
Appearance:
Weapon(s) Type:
Flickblade
History:
A young man who sells information for his own enjoyment. He claims to love the entire human race except for Shizuo Heiwajima, and exhibits said love by putting humans in often miserable conditions and observing their reactions.
He attended Raira Academy with Shizuo, Shinra and Kadota. According to Shinra, Izaya and Shizuo hated each other with a passion almost from the point they met. In the novels Izaya framed Shizuo for crimes on several occasions. In the anime he puts Shizuo in constant problems, such as gangs attacking him daily up to framing him of crimes.
He is a master of parkour, and also quite skilled with his flickblade (the blade he uses must be slightly opened before the mechanics of it springs opens the blade - a switchblade will open on its own after the user presses a switch) as he is implied to be the only one capable of leaving numerous cuts in Shizuo's bartender suit after a fight in the novels. In the anime, he shaves a gang member's head bald without him noticing it. He is also fluent in Russian, which is exhibited in the final episode when he speaks with Simon.
Izaya has two younger sisters, Mairu and Kururi, who are twins and troublemakers. He claims to have grown up in a normal family whose only abnormal trait was their naming habits. He does not like his sisters and find them to be unlovable, saying that if even he can not like them, he expects no one else to ever be able to either.
His name comes from a combination of the biblical Isaiah and Japanese for "the one who looks over the crowd".
Any Extra Information:
Blood type: O
Hobby: Human observation
Things he likes: Humans, humans, humans
Things he dislikes: Heiwajima Shizuo, eyes of dead fish
Favorite food: Any food that tells him something about the personality of the one who prepared it.
Disliked food: Canned food, compressed food, junk food, etc.
Favorite quote: "It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious." - Oscar Wilde, Lady Windermere's Fan
Roleplay Example
Kanra that was his screen name. The one everyone on the internet knew him by. Izaya leaned back into his black leather chair, fingers stroking the plastic arm of it. It was about a month now since that blonde freshman had left. Thanks to him, dear Mikado and Kida were still in touch. Thanks to him everything was just a bit in peace again. Brown-red eyes narrowed as he clicked a few things on the Dollars web page. Making his way to the chat as always.
Maybe, just maybe, someone was on, he didn't know. Izaya used his free hand to brush against the eye that had gotten punched not too long ago. The mark was gone now, thank goodness. He chose to stay indoors while it healed, seeing it was all too attractive at all. Then again, who would he be impressing now? No one.
He loved all humans, but there was this one human that he loved more then all of them tied together. One that would run away just until the end. The one he gave everything to and stopped just to be the bastard he was known to be. Anyway, Izaya clicked the chat room while grinning to himself. No one was in. Pitty. 'Evening! Seems everyone is out again- that's a shame. I guess I'll just be alone for the night!' he typed, the countless clicks of the keys echoed through the room as he did.
